 Fairies

The process begins with a drawing of the character, which is transferred onto a block of linoleum and carved out. When sturdy paper is pushed into the carved out linoleum, it conforms to the carving and embosses the surface of the paper, making a three-dimensional work that imitates the wrinkles and lines of skin stretched or folded over muscle and fat. The final step of the process is painting the embossement, with metallic watercolors to brighten the image while highlighting the sculptural aspects of the embossment and creating beautiful dimension to the print on a wall when viewed in-person.
